The lower Owens River gorge.  Upper Bishop Tuff is characterized by radial
columnar jointing.  Lower Bishop Tuff is more indurated and characterized by
flattened pumice shards.  Low rounded hills on the skyline are thought to be
the tops of inactive fumerolic vents.
