Graduate Program - M.S.

Graduate Program

The Geological Sciences Department has begun the process of requesting a Master of Science program for our department. As a part of that process we need to solicit both alumni and perspective employers for their input. Below you will find links to two separate forms. The first is to be completed by Cal Poly alumni, current students or anyone having an interest in pursuing a Master's degree from our department. Note: alumni will receive the same questionnaire as a part of a mass mailing. The second form is to be completed by prospective employers or their designated representatives. We encourage anyone who might employ geoscience graduates to complete this form, as well as pass the URL along to your colleagues for their input. To a large extent, the success of our graduate proposal relies on the support of students, alumni and the professional community. Therefore, any response is greatly appreciated.

At the present time, the department has an informal deadline of late October 2007 to complete the lengthy request for a Master's degree. The proposal is then forwarded to Academic Affairs for dissemination to the various entities and committees that must evaluate and approve it. Finally, is forwarded to the Chancellor's Office. Best estimates are 3 to 5 years for implementation assuming the program is approved by the Chancellor's Office and Board of Trustees. Stay Tuned!
